In my 22 years of experience, I’ve taught a lot of foreign drivers: au pairs, foreign students, immigrants and visiting workers.
Driving in the UK is a very different experience even from other European countries. Not only do we drive on the ‘wrong’ side of the road, our driving culture in the UK is different. We’re very polite drivers, and a lot stricter about rule and regulations than most countries.
I will help you get familiar with our unfamiliar road layouts and features, as well as our different driving practices, and get you up-to-date with British road law and the Highway Code.

I teach motorway driving in Surrey: Guildford, Aldershot, Farnham, and Godalming.
It’s very common to feel nervous or uncertain about driving on the motorway. New drivers in particular tend to be concerned about motorway driving, as the conditions are so different from the ones they learned in, and the volume and speed of traffic so much higher than on other roads.
A few motorway driving lessons can really help you feel at ease. I will guide you through the specialist driving skills and procedures you need for motorway driving, and by the end you will feel comfortable and confident.
Here are some of the points I cover in motorway driving lessons:
- Preparing your car for a motorway journey
- Planning your route
- Joining and exiting the motorway
- How to use lanes correctly
- How to change lanes correctly and safely
- Safe overtaking
- Safe distances to leave between you and other vehicles
- Adjusting for the conditions
- Motorway awareness
- Taking breaks
- What to do in an emergency
And much more. I can also adjust what I teach to make sure that the areas that you’re most concerned about are covered, so that you will leave our lessons feeling comfortable and confident.

New driver? You might consider taking a Pass Plus course, which covers a range of areas of benefit to new drivers, including motorway driving.
offer mock driving tests in Surrey: Guildford, Aldershot, Farnham, and Godalming.
A mock driving test is a great way to prepare for the real thing. It can:
- give you practice in the procedure – driving examiners give instructions in a particular way
- help you become familiar with test areas
- let you experience the pressures of a driving test
- help reduce your nerves when you take the test for real.
Taking a driving test is really quite different from taking a lesson. Where your instructor will talk and guide you during a lesson, an examiner will sit in silence. A mock driving test will help you get used to this, so that it doesn’t feel so intimidating or offputting when you get to the real thing.
It’s also very useful to experience the test conditions in advance. Additionally, you may have to take your test in a different area from the one you are used to. I’ll make sure you cover a variety of road conditions and situations.
I usually like to give you at least two mock tests once I feel that you are sufficiently advanced. Usually the first will flag shortcomings in driving style that have to be remedied, and then a further test would be performed.
I teach towing driving in Surrey: Guildford, Aldershot, Farnham, and Godalming.
If you passed your test after 1997, you’re not allowed to tow unless you’ve got a towing license.
A specialised towing lesson will get you up to speed.
I can teach you for towing animals and livestock, heavy loads, and wide loads. We’ll cover reversing and other maneuvering, as well as safety.
I can teach towing in groups: I often teach mums who need to take their daughter’s pony to the Pony Club, and you can get a few ladies together and meet at the club field.
Most people who want towing lessons have their own vehicle and trailer, but I can source a trailer for lessons if required.

I teach driving to special needs students in Surrey: Guildford, Aldershot, Farnham, and Godalming.
To be honest, we all have special needs when it comes to driving! We’re all different, and I always tailor my lessons to the individual.
But for some people, the challenges of a driving lesson are greater than for others. My listening skills, patience, and understanding mean that you are allowed time to go at your own pace, in a safe, pressure-free environment.
In my 22 years as a driving instructor, I’ve taught students with all kinds of specialist needs, including:
- Asperger’s Syndrome
- Previous accident or trauma
- Learning difficulties
- Reading difficulties
- Left/right issues
- Survivors of sexual abuse
- And fear of driving
All of whom have gone onto test success. You can do it too.

I give private driving lessons in Surrey: Guildford, Aldershot, Farnham, and Godalming.
In our lessons, you have full one-on-one personal attention.
I tailor the lesson to you and adapt everything to your individual learning style – and individual driving style!
I never put two people in the car at the same time, and I don’t do ‘piggy-backing’ (which is where a driving instructor uses your lesson time to pick up their next student). Your lesson time is entirely yours.
We will start out in my dual-controlled car, but once you’re at a reasonable standard, we can have your driving lessons in your own car if you prefer, as long as the car is Fully Comprehensively insured.

I teach Pass Plus in Surrey: Guildford, Aldershot, Farnham, and Godalming.
Pass Plus is an improver course intended for drivers who have recently passed their test, but it can really helpful for more experienced drivers, too.
Statistics show that you are most likely to have an accident in the first two years after passing your driving test, due to lack of experience. Pass Plus is designed to reduce this risk by improving your skills in a range of areas.
The course consists of six one-hour modules:
- motorway driving
- dual-carriageway driving
- town driving
- night driving
- rural driving
- all weather driving
There’s no exam at the end of the course, but nonetheless, you will be a much safer driver after you complete it. And an added bonus is that it can significantly reduce your insurance premiums!
For more information, visit the Pass Plus website, or contact me to book your Pass Plus course.
I teach night driving lessons in Surrey: Guildford, Aldershot, Farnham, and Godalming.

There’s no need to avoid night driving – a few night driving lessons can help you become familiar with the different conditions and learn the skills required to manage them, so that you will feel comfortable and confident driving home after an evening out.

offer intensive driving courses in Surrey: Guildford, Aldershot, Farnham, and Godalming.
Need your license in a hurry? Perhaps you need to be able to drive for your job, or you’re going away to uni very soon?
If you have the time, an intensive driving course is a fast-rack way of gaining your drivinng license.
You’ll need several free hours a day. The exact number of hours we do can be anywhere between 15 and 25 hours a week.
An intensive driving course can save you money in the long run, because you intensify your learning; you take more in over fewer hours, because you’re not losing what you’ve learned between sessions, the way you can when it’s a full week from one lesson to the next.
